It probably looked like I was texting, which is rude. So I made excitedly interested faces toward the college tour guide, before feverishly typing, as if to say, “See? I’m just taking notes on what you’re saying. I’m not commenting on cat photos on Facebook.”And I was indeed taking notes, in OneNote on my Windows Phone, while my son and I toured the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn last week. This is my preferred note-taking method for college tours (our eighth so far), because it’s quick and easy, doesn’t require a pen or paper, doesn’t get lost in my purse or car, and is always available on my phone and my computer through OneDrive, a free cloud storage service from Microsoft.

I keep my college tour notes in OneNote on my phone and in OneDrive. Here’s how it looks on my desktop.
OneNote is searchable, so if I need to compare, say, tuition or housing options among the colleges we’ve toured, I can find the information fast. I can also add notes under photos, so I remember later why I took certain shots.
Though the reason for taking certain photos is clearly evident and requires no commentary.

OneNote helps me remember the details of the tour information and the feel of what we experienced in one convenient place.
As you can see, I am a OneNote evangelist, which is why Microsoft has re-upped my #OfficeChamps program involvement again this school year. I live and breathe what they offer.
To celebrate, I’m giving away a one-year subscription of Office 365 for Home (a $99.99 value), which includes OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher — all the applications that help me keep organized anywhere I go. Even Brooklyn, in the rain.
All you have to do is enter through the Rafflecopter entry below and answer the question listed below in our comment section and voila! You’re entered to win. (Open to U.S. residents only.) Hurry! Deadline to enter is Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.
