My oldest is 16, my youngest is 8 and I’m starting to get a taste of this. This summer, more of my time is spent helping my kids get somewhere to do something rather than doing something with them, and my oldest son is pretty much on his own. I like it. Like you, I see it as a natural evolution of our relationship. Gradually, they’re taking on more ownership and responsibility for their own lives, and we stay connected via short conversations and texts and funny videos, and all is well.
