My mum and dad have been foster carers in the UK for 25 years. The majority of kids they have in their care come from homes where drug and alcohol use are everyday occurences. These kids then go on to duplicate that behaviour as they get older. Many people over here believe canabis to be harmless, but they are generally the ones smoking it. I believe it just leads to experimenting with many other drugs/highs.
It doesn’t help that in all the soaps we watch on tv, every time there is a crisis they all reach for the alcohol and they NEVER use mixers! Bad messages.

Yep. And to top it all off, I’m raising my boys in Wisconsin, a state where binge drinking and drinking to excess is considered normal. Case in point: Adults were drinking beer at the kids’ Little League tournament at 9 am yesterday (a Sunday), and the concession stand was selling it.
