“Toddlers and Tiaras” really should be renamed. Perhaps something like “How Not to Parent” or “The Real Stage Mothers of Pennsylvania.” Surely the show’s stars belongs on Bravo with the other sociopaths of reality TV, and not on something called “The Learning Channel.”
While I generally avoid the show, I clicked on the clip below on Facebook, and I couldn’t stop watching it — especially after they started passing around the pageant crack.
“Pageant crack” is the lingo for pixie sticks full of sugar, which prompted Anderson Cooper to report on this “doping scandal” on his “Ridiculist,” as the pageant industry’s “worst kept secret.” But perhaps sugaring up your kids isn’t that disturbing. Case in point: Halloween.
More upsetting is “go-go juice,” some sort of energy drink designed to make girls like the one in the video really, really want to get their Daisy Duke on. The bottle looks like Mountain Dew, which has 54 mg of caffeine in a 12-ounce bottle that appears to make pageant-goers, as the girl in the video reports, “laughy.”
I dunno. I’m not feeling all that laughy after watching this:
What do you think? Are you feeling laughy or sorry for these kids?
