Is Your Kid a Character? Oh Brother!

On second thought, I shouldn’t have agreed to be a judge of the “Oh Brother” cartoon contest. My son, who dabbles in cartooning, would have loved to enter. And yet, it’s going to be so much fun being a judge. At least Steven Tyler looks like he’s having a blast, right? I hope I get hair and makeup, too!

If you’ve got a cartoonist at your house, check this out:

Award-winning syndicated cartoonist Bob Weber, Jr. and Emmy Award-winning creator Jay Stephens have teamed up and created the humorous nationally syndicated comic strip Oh, Brother!

The two main characters, Bud and Lily, are brother and sister, and they are always up to something. Bud likes getting into mischief and Lily has to pick up the pieces. With their lovable dog, Buster, by their side, their everyday adventures are hilarious. Sound familiar?

Would your child make the perfect comic strip character? Is he or she an impulsive prankster like Bud or precocious like Lily? Tell us why and your kid may get the chance to be a part of the Oh, Brother! gang and appear in the strip as a classmate of Bud’s or as Bud and Lily’s neighbor!

To be eligible to win a coveted spot in this nationally syndicated comic strip, email a cartoon drawing created by your child along with a brief description of why they would make the best “Oh Brother” character at OhBrotherContest@gmail.com. Then visit the Oh Brother Facebook Page (scans need to be converted to a JPEG to be shared on Facebook) and feel free to upload your cartoon their as well. Finalists will be featured on the Oh Brother website and the winning entry will be selected by a select panel of blogging moms on March 21. Please include your child’s name and your contact information along with the cartoon drawing.

An expert panel of humorous and lifestyle bloggers will then judge the entries and select one child to be featured in the comic strip!

I am looking forward to seeing what your kids draw.

Pass it on!

Jen

    Thanks, Jen!
My 10-year-old son Tyler LOVES to draw! This is a wonderful idea! He and I were reading the Oh, Brother! comic website together for an hour last night. Lots of chuckles! Here is Tyler’s favorite cartoon so far –
