What’s summertime without some S’mores around the fire? In fact, we kicked off our first day of summer with a S’mores cookout, courtesy of the folks at Hershey’s, and now, so can you.
In honor of the National Wildlife Federation’s 6th Annual Great American Backyard Campout held tomorrow, June 26th, MommaSaid and Hershey’s are giving away your own S’mores kit to get your campout S’mores experience started, including:
Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars
Honey Maid® Graham Crackers
Jet-Puffed® Marshmallows
Plus you can get a coupon for $1 off your next purchase of a six-pack of Hershey’s chocolate by registering for the campout.
Thousands of people across the country will gather in backyards, neighborhoods, communities, and parks for the one-night event created to get kids and families outdoors to sleep under the stars. Participants can register for the Great American Backyard Campout by visiting www.greatamericanbackyardcampout.org.

YUMM!!!! My most recent memory was last week – my husband and I took our kids (20 months and 6 years) and their cousins (ages 11, 10 and 8) camping and made S’mores!! LOVE the crispy marshmellows!! I hate mosquitos!
I LOVE sitting around the campfire. Hate the bugs!
Camping is great… except for the bugs! Smores are AMAZING – and sound SO great right now!!!
I have to agree with Kelly – mosquitos are the worst! ARGH!!
I am NOT the camping “type” – don’t like being outside in a tent…need a real bed, a shower and real food. oh well – I do love smores!!!
I hate the mosquitos!
Building the fire and keeping it going was always my favorite part of camping. And then toasting marshmallows.
Cleaning up after camping is what I dislike the most! eating a toasted marshmallow s’more is what I like the most!
We always camped growing up so S’mores are a staple for me.
Just the other weekend we were out on the farm with a bonfire roasting marshmallows. One of my camping memories was at No Name Campground in Glenwood canyon (CO). If you’ve ever been there, you would know that just across the river there are train tracks. Without fail, every night around 1am, a train will come and blow his horn as loud as possible in front of the campground. One night I thought the train was going to come through the tent so I shot up from a dead sleep and tried to upzip the tent and get out. Luckily my husband pulled me back and woke me up to tell me the train was still across the river. Pretty funny though!
I am not really an outdoors person so it has been awhile but it was when my dad was still alive. I remember my dad was great at scaring us to death by telling some of the creepiest stories. I think I was about eleven or twelve at the time. My mom kept telling him to stop because she was afraid we would have nightmares. At night, my sisters and I were so scared that we slept close together and we kept taking turns making sure the tent was zipped up. It is one of my most favorite memories of my father. In morning, he woke us up at around 6 a.m. and said he wanted to make sure everyone was “accounted for.” My sisters and I always laugh about that camping trip especially the part when my dad woke us up pretending to be all freaked out and wanting to make sure no one was taken away during the night. Needless to say, my kids and I camp indoors.
I do not like the middle of the night trips all the way up to the camp bathrooms. I also have not enjoyed the sudden thunderstorm that popped up at 3 am and we had to grab all the kids who were sound asleep and pack them into the car. We were all cranky and hot and could not roll down the windows of the car in the rain. Hey it was memorable though!!!
I love camping because it is something I have discovered after I had sons, after I have been in remission from Lymphoma for the 2nd time, my husband decided the boys should start camping. We live in the city so it so fun to go out and be rustic and the best part is at night sitting around telling them storie and making smore’s
The kids and I love making smores so much that in the winter I have a indoor camping night for them and their friend and the smores are the hit of the whole thing.
Hey I know people agree its a good thing!
