Yeah, I know there’s supposed to be a Freebie Friday here, but there isn’t. And there isn’t a pithy blog about my visit to the Babies R Us in Union Square, or my test-drive of the newest Nintendo games or my mom blogger dinner with Microsoft, the two latter of which happened nine days ago now. Any day now. Any day…
Somewhere between the radio show I did this morning with Dr. Gwenn, coaching last night’s soccer practice, my booksigning tomorrow (2 -4 p.m. at the Borders in Riverdale, NJ) and getting ready to go on CNN International on Sunday (I’ll be big in Bangladesh!), I had no time to put anything together. For a mom blogger/author, this week is like the days leading to Christmas — crazy-busy. But I did have time to get to the supermarket, where I spotted this:
Because apparently, when you’re buying lemonade, what you need is a harmonica. And balloons! That’s what was missing from my shopping list.
Now, back in the day, when I would go shopping with my two little kids, born 19 months apart, and getting through the supermarket was sometimes a painful prospect, I might have purchased two of those harmonicas just to get through the store, however noisily. And I would suck it up and listen to two out-of-tune harmonicas the entire car ride home because it was better than listening to whiiiiiiiiiining.
But today, in the midst of all I’ve had to do during this holiest of the high holidays for moms and mom bloggers, this little tidbit amused me greatly. Almost as much as the look on a fellow shopper’s face when she realized I was taking pictures of harmonicas.
I’d love to share more, but I’ve got to go carpool a playdate.
Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
